Student research opportunities
The Centre for Built Infrastructure Resilience (CBIR) seeks students interested in addressing the following main focus areas:
- use of smart materials for control of civil engineering structures
- damage detection in civil engineering structures using modal data and artificial neural Networks
- earthquake engineering
- new technologies to facilitate the cost-effective management of highway bridge assets
- innovative engineered timber buildings
- investigation of appropriate technologies to improve seismic resistance of mudbrick housing
- development of new-generation autoclaved fibre-cement building materials using waste fired clay products
- ‘Green Cement’: the development of eco-friendly, novel construction material.
Students will undertake collaborative research and development projects with industry and forming partnerships with leading Australian and international research organisations for maximum impact.
