About us
The UTS Proteomics Core Facility brings together leading technologies for sample preparation and protein extraction, protein separations, identification and characterisation.
We have world recognised expertise in the proteomic analysis of microorganisms by utilising electrophoretic and chromatographic technologies to separate proteins and peptides prior to analysis by mass spectrometry. These global analysis techniques are then complimented by targeted analysis to determine biological function and relevance. The facility has analysed a vast array of samples such as microorganisms, pathogens, tissue, cell lines, arthropods, plants and coral.
The research facility offers services and training in proteomics technologies to Australian and international researchers from academia and industry. It has particular expertise in experimental design, custom method development, sample preparation, complex mixture fractionation and protein separations.
The Proteomics Core Facility resides within the Faculty of Science’s extensive Biomedical and Bioscience research facilities that have OGTR PC2 certification and are a Quarantine Approved Premises. It has a broad range of expertise available in bacteriology, parasitology, molecular biology and tissue culture. The Facility partners its research closely with the i3 institute, the School of Life Sciences and the Microbial Imaging Facility.
