Students currently enrolled in a combined degree with the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies may be eligible to transfer into the new Bachelor of Languages and Cultures. This degree does not include an overseas study component.
Transfer to the Bachelor of Languages and Cultures
Note: there is no direct entry into this course. This option is only available for current Bachelor of Arts in International Studies students.
The Bachelor of Languages and Cultures has a strong focus on developing linguistic and (inter)cultural competencies that complement the strengths of the various professional degree combinations. It centres on the notion that Australia is, both through its Indigenous peoples and those who have arrived more recently, an international and multilingual society, and that substantial international and intercultural experiences are available locally.
When you transfer to the Bachelor of Languages and Cultures, all previous International Studies subjects will be credited. This is regardless of whether you have completed one session of International Studies subjects or numerous.
Upon transferring, you will be placed in a language major that is based on the language spoken in the country major you chose in the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. Information on the course structure can be found here.
