Education courses for a changed world
2021 has been a challenging year that has stressed the need to do things differently. That’s why the UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has updated its Education courses to equip graduates with the skills, experience and adaptability not just for today, but for tomorrow and the long-term.
Secondary education that stacks up
What do you get when you combine a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Communication or Engineering Studies with a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education? A unique vertically-stacked Teacher Education course. And going into 2022, you can now also pair a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Economics too.
These courses are designed with the needs of both students and the education sector in mind. In as little as 4 years, students gain two UTS qualifications and multiple in-demand teaching specialisations to boost their employability. Industry-relevant and practical disciplinary study, 80 days of in-school experience and an emphasis on future-focused skills like digital learning prepare students to become confident and knowledgeable teachers in English, Maths and Science, TAS, or HSIE.
Importantly, the course allows you to earn a teaching qualification without the harsh ‘three band fives’ requirement from most Education degrees. Instead, you get to prove yourself in your professional degree first (the Bachelor) before you take on Education subjects. Meaning if you complete 96 credit points of university education with a credit average weighted average mark (WAM), you progress into the Master of Teaching in Secondary Education part of the course.
