Karl Smith
Hearing the many real-life experiences of lecturers as practitioners was a great benefit.
‘The course enhanced my on-the job learning and allowed me to hit the ground running upon registration as a patent attorney.’
Karl Smith was living and working in Brisbane as a trainee Patent Attorney when he chose to enrol for the Master of Intellectual Property at UTS.
He knew UTS Law was a pioneer in offering the first course in Australia to fulfil all the educational requirements for registration as a Trans-Tasman patent attorney and he already had some study experience with the university.
‘I have previously undertaken online postgraduate study at UTS while living in Japan and was impressed by their setup.’
He says every aspect of the IP course exceeded his expectations including the delivery and the course structure but especially the quality of the teachers and their real-world expertise:
‘Hearing the many real-life experiences of lecturers as practitioners was a great benefit. I was already employed as a trainee and I was amazed at how the course content went hand in hand with what I was doing at work.’
Karl says UTS is more experienced than other universities in offering the course, which sets them apart from the rest of the pack and the makes the choice of where to study an easy one:
‘I would be happy to recommend the course to others, and am confident that they would find it as enjoyable and rewarding as I did’.
