Life after lockdown - The new career normal
At UTS we’ve brought together a group of experts in the fields of science, education, health and policy to explore what the world will look like in three months, six months and one years’ time. And how long we might be dealing with the effects of COVID-19.
Pubs closed, borders shut, increased working from home and 1.6 million people suddenly jobless.
These are just some of the realities of Australia’s COVID-19 lockdown.
What happens next?
Will everything return to how it was, or will zoom meetings be our new norm?
How will we sustainably support the millions of Australians without jobs?
How might we fill the gaps left by skilled migrants?
How stark will the impact of automation on our workforce be post-lockdown?
The fine balance of public health and economic prosperity has been in question since lockdown measures were enforced. While pessimism is rife, our second Life after lockdown event will focus on the essential role of education providers in Australia’s economic recovery.
Join, Future Skills Expert Fiona Anson from UTS’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, Telstra’s Carolyn Wilcockson, and Dr Kirsty Kitto as they explore how fast ways of reskilling more than 3000 Telstra staff members will close skills gaps and create the jobs that the future demands.
Could this form of learning be a solution to creating a robust post-COVID-19 economy?
