The Australian Stuttering Research Centre has 3 PhD scholarships available.
Australian Stuttering Research Centre PhD Scholarships
The Australian Stuttering Research Centre is located at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) within the Graduate School of Health. For eligible candidates, the scholarships will be granted for the evaluation of internet treatment programs for people who stutter. The internet programs include speech and anxiety treatments. The programs are adaptations of our well-researched face-to-face programs and are in various stages of development.
We are looking for researchers to conduct user group testing, communicate with the website developer to refine the program, and to begin preliminary clinical trials of the program. These research opportunities would suit speech pathology or psychology graduates. The duration of the scholarship for a PhD is three years. An extension of up to 6 months may be granted in extenuating circumstances, subject to satisfactory progress.
The Australian Stuttering Research Centre is currently accepting Expressions of Interest from potential PhD applicants. Expressions of Interest will also be considered for Master’s by Research candidates, with a view to them articulating to a PhD, conditional upon satisfactory progress.
Please note that the current research projects will ideally suit local candidates.
UTS Research Strategy
UTS offers an innovative and stimulating scientific environment underpinned by the UTS Research Strategy. The University’s overall strategic goal is to increase the intensity, excellence, impact, and reputation of its research.
UTS research performance continues to go from strength to strength as a direct consequence of the existing strategy and research investment. Tuition fees for domestic student applicants (Australian citizen or permanent visa holder) are automatically covered by the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset (Domestic). A successful international applicant may be offered a UTS International Research Scholarship (IRS) subject to availability.
In addition to the scholarships, the Graduate School of Health also provides approximately $1,500 per annum to directly support research related activities, for example, conference travel, training, copy editing, and participant recruitment.
To be eligible for a scholarship, potential applicants must meet the following criteria:
