The ethics and regulation of digital privacy
CMT Lecturer Sacha Molitorisz is researching the ethics and regulation of digital privacy. Building on his 2018 PhD, Sacha takes Kantian ethics as a starting point for articulating a coherent account of what privacy is, why it matters and how we might best protect it.
Ultimately, Sacha argues, a satisfactory regime for protecting privacy online requires a robust regulatory framework, supplemented by non-legal measures. The specifics of these protections are detailed in Sacha's book, Net Privacy, How we can be free in an age of surveillance, published in 2020 by NewSouth Books in Australia and McGill-Queen's University Press in Canada.'
