Clubs are a great way to meet new friends and make the most of your UTS experience. There is a wide range to choose from to suit a variety of interests but we've listed here a selection that are relevant to FASS degrees.

Backstage
Backstage is the UTS theatre and film society, based around a collective appreciation of performance.
Whether you're interested in being on-stage or in the wings, acting, writing, directing, producing and more, Backstage is the place for you.
All productions are produced by and star students, including musicals, short-play nights and major productions. Each production offers students an opportunity to discover new skills and explore their ideas and vision.
And it's not just for those looking to explore their creativity, you can socialise and make friends with parties and special events. Join one of UTS' most active, exciting and welcoming clubs!
Central News
Central News is UTS' student-run news and current affairs publication, offering you the chance to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic digital newsroom under the guidance of a professional editor. Pitch and break news stories, gaining valuable experience and building your portfolio one byline at a time.
Film Appreciation Posse
The Film Appreciation Posse are a group of cinephiles obsessed with everything film.
The Posse is an interfaculty society that hosts screenings of a wide variety of films each week for members. They also host short film competitions and casual game nights designed to create a relaxing environment to make new friends and bond over a shared love of film.
Journalism Society
The UTS Journalism Society (JSoc) opens the door to new friendships and professional networks for aspiring journalists.
JSoc provides journalism students with a network of like-minded associates all learning the craft of one our most important professions. The society works with multiple student publications, such as Vertigo and 2SER, to publish work, as well as hosting events for students to learn and network.
The Big Lift
The Big Lift is a student-led volunteering organisation founded on the philosophy of 'paying it forward'.
Small acts of kindness and volunteering help build stronger communities and leaders, and these unique events provide members with the opportunity to discover just how rewarding it is to give back.
Take part in activities such as the annual Winter Trip, which sees 80 students travel across regional Australia, stopping in small towns and volunteering at each. There's also Little Lifts, which see students volunteer across weekends and holidays, toy and book drives, environmental conservation, maintenance and cleaning work, and more!
UTS Literary Society
UTS Literary Society (LitSoc) gives students a hub to express and explore their passion for reading, writing and all things books.
From classics to sci-fi novels, everyone will find a book that caters to their interests and will be able to discuss it with fellow enthusiasts. Whether you are a long-time avid reader or just newly getting into reading, LitSoc create's an easy space for everyone to connect and share their ideas without judgement.
UTS Music Society
The UTS Music Society (MuscUTS) is the main music society for the university, full of passionate musicians, performers, instrumentalists and more!
MuscUTS has been around for over 30 years, and the range of talented ensembles include Choir, Chamber Orchestra, Jam Club, and Jazz Band. There's a packed events calendar, including a wide variety of social events, plus performance opportunities for all musicians, beginner or otherwise.
UTS Revue Society
The UTS Revue Society (AKA Comedy, Revue and Performance, AKA C.R.A.P) is a student-run performing arts collective dedicated to writing, staging and performing a one-off, original variety performance each year.
Taking pride in "making your mother uncomfortable" the UTS Revue Society produces hilarious performances, letting students bring their truest selves to the stage. The society also holds open mic nights, sketch shows, and writer's workshops.
Students from across the university are welcome to participate in any aspect of the Revue each year, and you don’t have to be on stage if you don’t want to, areas of interest include: sketch writing, directing, costuming, choreography, acting, singing, dancing, video production, band, stage managing, lighting, sound design and more.
UTS Society of Communications (UTSoC)
The UTS Society of Communications (UTSoC) is a society committed to developing a community of communication students.
Entirely student-run, UTSoC's main aims are to connect, promote and unite Communications students from every discipline with others in their degree, the rest of the university, and the greater community through a mix of social, careers and social justice events.
With one of the largest membership bases at the university, UTSoC love to celebrate and treat members and fellow communicators to some of the university’s most popular (and notorious) events.
First Year Orientation Camp and Welcome Back Drinks are followed by the infamous UTSoC Hunt – we can’t reveal all the details here – but it’s a night filled with many an adventure which no one should miss! The social calendar continues with several combined society events and finishes off with the Communications Ball, and yes, it’s totally as fancy as it sounds!
UTS Vertigo
Vertigo is the UTS student publication, made freely available to all UTS students and staff.
Running for over 30 years, Vertigo is run by a team of editors elected by students. The editing team is dedicated to informing its readers of events and information relevant to UTS student and community life.
You can also submit your own work, including essays, stories, and any other format you can think of, to be published.
UTS Vietnamese Students' Association
The UTS Vietnamese Students' Association (VSA) is a diverse cultural society for anyone who shares an appreciation for Vietnamese culture.
VSA members aspire to develop their skillsets and networks by engaging in social participation through community, cultural, leadership, and social activities.
VSA encourages its pool of members to be culturally diverse. By connecting students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds who share an appreciation of the Vietnamese culture, it allows for a heightened appreciation of the similarities and differences between diverse cultures.
