What AcaWriter doesn't do
AcaWriter provides instant feedback on your drafts before you submit your course assignments for grading or research papers for review. It focuses on the hallmarks of academic writing, but it doesn’t replace the other writing tools you already use. It’s important to keep in mind:
- AcaWriter does not check your grammar or spelling
- AcaWriter does not detect plagiarism
These important parts of writing are left up to you, so make sure you keep using those tools.
AcaWriter does not grade your writing. This means you can get feedback as many times as you want, day or night. Grading is a very complex task, and AcaWriter does not know if you’re writing nonsense: it’s your job to check your facts, sources, evidence, etc.
Disagree if you think it’s got it wrong, just as you ignore a poor spelling or grammar checker. Computers don’t understand writing like humans. So, AcaWriter may highlight rhetorically good sentences that actually make no sense, or not highlight a sentence you feel is really good. It’s fine to disagree with the feedback — but your academic may require you to defend your viewpoint.
