The McKell Institute Lecture with Tanya Plibersek
Join The McKell Institute for our annual public policy lecture with the Deputy Leader for the Federal Opposition, Shadow Minister for Education and Training, and Shadow Minister for Women, the Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP.
It is 10 years since the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals was signed by all Education Ministers. The goals set were for Australian schooling to promote equity and excellence, and for all young Australians to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens.
In this address Tanya will focus on Australia’s progress in meeting these goals, and what our goals should be for the next ten years to ensure every Australian child reaches their potential. If Labor is elected, an extra $17 billion in funding will be delivered to schools and there will be a once in a generation opportunity to make significant gains in learning outcomes. Tanya will outline Labor’s vision for schooling and the key priority areas to deliver a world class education system.
