UTS researchers named among 100 Australian visionaries
Eureka prize-winning scientist Professor Dayong Jin and UTS's first industry professor Mike Briers are among 100 "rock stars of Australia's new economy" announced as the Knowledge Nation 100.
An initiative of the Knowledge Society, the Office of the Chief Scientist and the Australian newspaper, the list is intended to identify Australia's "visionaries, intellects, founders and game changers building the industries and institutions to underwrite the nation's future prosperity."
Announced at an event late last week attended by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, fresh from the release of the Government's Innovation Statement, the list also includes Business Council of Australia President Catherine Livingstone, who will be the next UTS Chancellor.
Professor Jin is included among the list's "STEM heroes" who will be "at the forefront of industry-driven collaborative research."
