Master of Science in Environmental Change and Management
“UTS was my first choice because it had the subjects that interested me. I was really interested in doing my study especially abroad because that’s very common in Indonesia.
I spend a lot of time in the library. It was good especially the quiet area. I spend a lot of late nights doing assignments and everything.
Before I started my course, I took a few workshops at HELPS. I was introduced to the formal Australian academic writing – it’s totally different to what we have back in Indonesia and helpful to learn if you want to work in research.
During my studies at UTS I went on a lot of field trips. For example, my colleagues and I spent a night at the Science Institute of Marine Science (SIMS) in North Sydney. We went to different sites and we took some measurements and we also received lectures about the environmental problems in Australia and about the job opportunities at SIMS.
My lecturers are very friendly and easy to contact. They always send early feedback for assignments, so we can change it a little bit before submitting it.
Australia is very multicultural, it’s easy to find Asian food or people from your home country. It’s also very easy to just adapt to the new environment and learn new things because the lifestyle is more convenient.
I advise future international students not be afraid to ask questions. I have learnt that everyone here are happy to help, whatever the question you have in mind, they will answer it.”
