Prof Quiggin Appointed Chair of Aboriginal Housing Office
Minister for Family and Community Services Pru Goward announced the appointment of Professor Robynne Quiggin as Chair of the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) Board yesterday.
Professor Quiggin is an academic with the Institute for Public Policy and Governance at the University of Technology Sydney and has previously served as Deputy Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Social Justice Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission.
Ms Goward said Professor Quiggin’s passion for improving the lives of Aboriginal people in NSW will underpin and inform policy development and the ongoing work of the AHO Board.
“I am delighted that Professor Quiggin has accepted this appointment as Chair of the AHO,” Ms Goward said.
“Professor Quiggin has chaired and served on a number of boards and given her legal, academic and business experience is well placed to guide the AHO.”
Professor Quiggin currently serves as a Trustee of the Australian Museum, Chair of Westpac’s Indigenous Advisory Committee, Chair of First Hand Solutions, Deputy Chair of Bangarra Dance Theatre, Member of the Westpac Stakeholder Advisory Committee and a Member of the Indigenous Law Bulletin editorial committee.
“Secure and affordable housing is a fundamental right for all of us,” Professor Quiggin said.
“I am really looking forward to working with my fellow Board Members and management towards achieving the AHO's vision of ensuring that every Aboriginal person in NSW has equal access to and choice in affordable housing.”
