I love switching between completely different subjects, going from property law one second to...
Which high school did you attend? Beth Rivkah Ladies College, Melbourne
Which degree are you studying? What year are you in? 2nd year, Bachelor of Medical Science/Bachelor of Laws
What led you to choose UTS for your studies in Law? When I moved to Sydney from Melbourne, I hadn't even heard of UTS. However, when I started looking at different degrees offered by Sydney universities, I was immediately attracted to UTS because of its combination of medical science and law. All the other universities only offered a general science/law combination, which didn’t interest me nearly as much.
What influenced your decision? The fact that UTS is so central and easy to reach from anywhere!
How has your learning experience at UTS prepared you for your career? As I'm only in my second year I'm still deciding what I want to do, but with such a diverse degree I have so many options.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your degree? Why? I love switching between completely different subjects, going from property law one second to physics the next. Doing such different subjects always keeps it interesting.
What sort of work do you hope to be doing after you graduate? I'd like to become an academic and lecture at a uni but I'm also considering intellectual property for patenting scientific discoveries or maybe something to do with medical law.
What is the most useful thing you have learned from your degree so far? The ability to learn on my own. You become far more independent about your learning at uni, and stop relying on teachers to help you along step by step.
Has anyone in particular at the University had a significant influence on your studies? Some great lecturers have made me really enthusiastic about their subjects.
What would your advice be for someone who is looking at studying Law at UTS? It's a great choice! There is such a diverse range of students you get to meet, some awesome lecturers and a great central location. All the students are friendly and willing to help each other out, because we don't get marked on that dreaded bell curve.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about your experience at UTS:Law, or the University as a whole? I actually couldn't be happier that I chose UTS over every other uni.
