Centre for Media Transition Launch with Jeff Jarvis
How media manipulators are spreading lies, hate and destroying democracy — and what journalism and its partners can do, by Professor Jeff Jarvis.
The internet is awash with hate and hurt. Armed with digital tools, individuals, groups and even governments are spreading lies, undermining democracy and giving voice and power to views formerly considered fringe, fake or far worse. The rise of media manipulators is a direct challenge to journalism and its role in civic society.
Join us to hear this address to mark the opening of the Centre for Media Transition at UTS on Tuesday 25 July 2017, as Professor Jeff Jarvis explores what journalism and its partners need to do to prove its own worth and diminish the role of the haters, exploiters and manipulators.
Professor Jarvis is the director of the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at City University New York's Graduate School of Journalism and one of the world’s most provocative media thought leaders.
