University of Technology Sydney Institute for Public Policy and Governance’s (UTS:IPPG) research project on the Wellbeing of International Students in the City of Sydney was presented to an audience of 45 City partners and stakeholders at City of Sydney’s Town Hall on 20 February 2017. Ben Dowler and Sophi Bruce from the UTS:IPPG research team provided an overview of the project along with key findings of areas known to impact the wellbeing of international students such as housing and accommodation; finance and employment; safety and crime and social integration.
Considerations for future initiatives were also presented and further discussed by attendees representing a diverse range of organisations involved in providing services to international students in Sydney. Orla Burke, City of Sydney’s Project Manager Safe City said “This research offers valuable information to our partners and the community on international student wellbeing, and recommendations on how students can be supported during their studies. The presentation of the research back to the sector informs our future work and collaboration with them.”
Ben Dowler from UTS:IPPG said of the project “We are very proud to be involved in this work and the City’s commitment in continuing to promote and support the research is commendable. It was a great pleasure to present back to City partners and stakeholders and be involved in the discussions on future possibilities.”
