Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice / Diploma in Engineering Practice
All students enrolled in the Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice or Diploma in Engineering Practice undertake a 48-week structured Practice Program, consisting of two 6-month internships alongside their engineering course.
The Diploma is a compulsory component for all domestic students enrolled in a single professional engineering course.
The internship enables students to link learning in the workplace to learning at university. In addition, it ensures that our graduates are in high demand with employers. These internships also provide employers with an opportunity to trial and recruit prospective graduate employees.
The Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice / Diploma in Engineering Practice consists of two stages:
- 1st Placement: occurs about one-third of the way through your course
- 2nd Placement: occurs about two-thirds of the way through your course
Ideally you should do your first internship towards the latter half of the second year and the second internship towards the latter half of the fourth year.
