I have always wanted to enter a profession that I would enjoy and that would make a difference.
Before starting at UTS I always loved the sciences in high school and I knew I wanted to enter the health profession, so I’ve focused most of my work experience and studies in this direction.
I was motivated to study this degree because I have always wanted to enter a profession that I would enjoy and that would make a difference. This degree gives me the opportunity for life-long learning and for career progression. I’ll have so many opportunities for different specialties in the future.
I chose UTS because of the university’s extensive connections to clinical hospital faculties, the appeal of my course’s program structure, the access to technologies and facilities on campus and because of UTS: Health’s focus on developing clinical skills.
The most rewarding aspect of the course is the clinical component. We gained exposure to hospitals from our first semester and we were able to practice clinical and lab skills regularly.
The advice I would give to students studying the degree is to take advantage of all the support systems at university and plan for your career from the beginning of your degree. There are so many opportunities for adding experience to your CV and improving your employability. Take advantage of all of them.
The university provides many forms of study support, such as regular assessment review sessions where a teacher will facilitate an analysis and discussion of the semester assignments and structure to help students with the assessments. Throughout your degree, you also have support systems such as UPASS and HELPS, as well as library tutorials to assist you with assignments.
