What motivated you to study this degree/major?
I have always been fascinated with science and the ability it has to really give us as a society the understanding and tools to enhance our lives and lifestyles. Forensics is the application of a combination of several science disciplines (Chemistry, Biology, Physics etc) and being able to use it within the realms of law and law enforcement. In addition, UTS is well known for their connections to law enforcement and having a highly developed specialist degree in this area.
What do you enjoy most about your degree?
I really enjoy the specialist subjects that UTS offers for Forensics. It's very practical, and has some real-life scenarios to work with—just as if we were on the field. The experience through some of the subjects really equips you with the necessary understanding to be a successful scientist.
Why did you choose to study at UTS?
I chose to study at UTS because I had friends who had previously studied at UTS and they really enjoyed their time studying here. In addition UTS has some state of the art facilities and laboratories with modern advanced equipment.
What is it like to study at UTS Science?
It's really fun, challenging and interesting all rolled into a roller coaster ride to discovering yourself, growing as a person and learning your chosen field of work both theoretically and practically. You will meet so many different types of individuals; some will become friends for life others will be professional contacts that you can use to network with in the present and the future.
What advice you would give to students studying this degree?
My advice to starting students would be to really discover systematic approaches to your own learning and what enhances your ability to learn and apply concepts though attending all subject activities and accessing all available reosurces. Get a good study rhythm but definitely balance that with some well deserved fun by joining some of the clubs UTS has to offer and getting to know other students.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
I would like to continue to enhance development by stating a Masters program and increase my skills by focusing on the Forensic Chemistry stream.
