- Conducted field trips along the coastline of the state of Gujarat, India for collection of specimen for further studies.
What motivated you to study this degree/major?
I have always been an ardent follower of all things animal. Every time I see marine life, my passion takes over and the fascination triggered by this has taken me to various places, such as rich marine-life areas including Gujarat, which has one of the longest coastlines in India. The field tests conducted there motivated me to pursue a career in marine science.
What do you enjoy most about your degree?
As well as the accredited professors that teach at UTS, I am particularly satisfied with the flexibility of subject choices, opportunity to study in various institutes through UTS, and being able to carry out independent research with active guidance from highly experienced supervisors.
Why did you choose to study at UTS?
Despite being married for over a decade and having completed my studies, I took it upon myself to find a course that best suited my passion and I chose UTS after I gathered information and feedback from across the USA and UK for the best university in this field. The professors and flexibility of subject choices at UTS Science were also a factor in my decision.
What is it like to study at UTS Science?
It's fun, believe me. There are so many things to do along with your studies at UTS. I myself am a member of UTS BUiLD society. Because UTS is also associated with many sports and activity clubs, I get discount in almost everything I want to learn, like surfing, rowing, scuba dive and many more. You get help and motivation at every step of your career. Be it career guidance, settling in a new city, accommodation, networking, getting help for your subjects, or how to apply for a job, almost anything. I feel I could not have got a better opportunity at any other university to learn, reflect and grow in the field that I am very passionate about.
What advice you would give to students studying this degree?
Take advantage of all the opportunities that are given to you while you study in UTS.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
Pursue a PhD
What other activities do you participate/do at uni?
