What are you majoring in?
Applied Physics
What did you do before you started your course?
I was studying a Diploma of Science at UTS:Insearch to gain entry into UTS.
What motivated you to study this degree/major?
I found physics one of the most interesting subjects in high school and was attracted to the practical aspect that UTS offers.
What do you enjoy most about your degree?
I enjoy the discussions and problem solving that take place in class. Many of the physics lecturers and tutors encourage students to engage with each other and ask a lot of questions in class.
Why did you choose to study at UTS?
It is a young university that is open to change, focuses on the practical aspects of each field of study, and always has a lot of exciting new things to offer, which appeals to the modernist in me.
What is it like to study at UTS Science?
It is fun because you learn interesting things from engaging lecturers and are always meeting new people and making new friends.
Is there any advice you would give to students studying this degree?
Don't be limited to your course of study. Choose electives from other streams of science or other courses and engage in societies and events outside of science.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
I would like to enrol in the new Masters in Secondary Teaching at UTS so I can be qualified to be a high school physics teacher.
What other activities do you participate/do at uni?
I have a job as an ambassador of UTS:Careers, I am a Student Promotional Representative of UTS (SPROUT) for UTS: Science, I am an active member of the UTS Atheist Society and I am a peer tutor for some of the maths units.
Tell us something interesting about yourself
I play soccer regularly at my local club and futsal institute.
