During my studies I’ve gained an in-depth immersion into the digital and video world. From setting up green screens to editing material in the video editing suites, these skills have definitely prepared me for my career. In the last year of my degree, I was accepted into a one-month internship at the Seven Network. When I walked into the studio, I was able to recognise all the video and sound equipment, whilst also recognising all the different types of software programs. The internship was only accepting UTS students, which I was very proud to be part of.
The thing I enjoyed the most about studying at UTS was the independence of the degree. UTS gave me the opportunity to choose the sub-major and electives that I was interested in. In so many subjects, I was given the freedom to make a sound piece or a short film about anything that interested me. I loved that I could express myself without any limitations.
I have made so many close friends that I now call “soon to be directors”. I’ve also acted in many theatre productions and Australian films during my time at UTS. My favourite thing is to act, and this degree even opened my eyes to many opportunities in that industry!
To the students who are going to study this degree, the one thing I am going to tell you is — be yourself. Let your imagination come to life, regardless of its obscurity. Your personal creative project could be the next UTS golden eye award or Tropfest winner!
