Happy 20th Anniversary Austlii!

It is a common gripe with the legal system that it just isn’t accessible to the average Australian. However, for twenty years (as of today!) the Australasian Legal Information Institute (Austlii), has been Australia’s  largest provider of online free-access legal materials.

Run by UTS in conjunction with UNSW, Austlii has been a valuable resource for a diverse range of users, with total hits for 2014 exceeding 223 million and averaging at 611,545 hits per day. The largest group of users are commercial users (mostly comprising the legal profession), in particular barristers are highly dependent on Austlii as a source of information.

Given the growing digitisation of the legal industry, UTS is proud to be part of such an important and innovative online resource.

Happy 20th anniversary Austlii, we can’t wait to see what comes next!

Acknowledgement of Country
