What did you do before you started your course?
I did my HSC and gained an ATAR into Bachelor degree in UTS.
What motivated you to study this degree/major?
Interesting theoretical knowledge, practical laboratory work and a team of friendly and helpful staff. Moreover, UTS provides such a variety of social and voluntary activities which encourage me to participate and improve beside studying. Several academic programs are also helpful in improving my soft skills and professional skills in university: SPROUTS, Accomplished Award, Soul Awards.
What do you enjoy most about your degree?
Being able to extend my knowledge into the biochemical world. Widen my science world that so I am ready for me future career.
Why did you choose to study at UTS?
Becuase it is a very young and enthusiastic university in Sydney. Its central location is a big advantage for someone who live 55 minute train from Sydney. It also has a growing and fascinating range of facilities and master campus. Lastly, UTS provides a great network with entrepreneurs and professional programs in order to train students to be work-ready graduates.
What is it like to study at UTS Science?
Lab work is a major thing. You will get chance to absorb and apply the reality into uni work. The course is challenging in training you being able to be a professional scientist after three years in several aspects: ablility to process lab work, writing scientific reports and journals, communicating and applying knowledge to practice.
Is there any advice you would give to students studying this degree?
Be proactive in seeking advice from not only your academics but also your friends. You will learn better with your friends!
Take any opportunity as it comes. Opportunities never comes twice.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
Be a public health consultant.
What other activities do you participate/do at uni?
Peer-networkers, volunteering, SPROUTS, mentoring.
Tell us something interesting about yourself
I'm an outgoing person who love to cook, to invent new recipes with lots of combinations (does not always work). Beside university and my part-time job, I love to stay home, cook the best dish for myself and watch the best movies.
