Investing in Quantum computing
Google is working with UTS researchers to build a strong digital future.
Google is expanding its collaboration with the UTS Centre for Quantum Software and Information (CQSI).
UTS researcher, Professor Michael Bremner, will delve deeper into research to grow Australian capability in quantum computing, working with Google and fellow leading Australian universities.
“One of the biggest challenges in quantum computing is understanding which applications quantum computers can deliver performance that goes beyond classical computing. In this project, my team at UTS will work with Google on this problem, examining the mathematical structures that drive quantum algorithms to go beyond classical computing,” said Professor Michael Bremner, Director, UTS Centre for Quantum Software and Information.
“It’s fantastic to see Google working closely with university-based research teams in Australia, providing funding that helps us grow the local talent base and creates opportunities for early career researchers. I’ve always enjoyed working with the Google Quantum AI team and I’m looking forward to the scientific discoveries we will make together through this project and into the future.”
CQSI member, Dr Marika Kieferova, has also been appointed a quantum computing scientist with Google’s Quantum AI team. Dr Kieferova will coordinate the university collaborations and represent Google’s Quantum research team in Australia.
