Developing medical technology solutions
UTS and Stryker will work together to train leading spine surgeons to use cutting edge technology and improve patient outcomes.
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has partnered with leading medical technology company, Stryker, to establish the Enabling Technologies Education Hub for research, training and education in spine, cranial and trauma surgery.
The Hub will empower learning and collaboration between industry, the tertiary education sector, and clinicians through access to Stryker’s global pipeline of current and emerging technologies in an academic workshop environment.
“The Enabling Technologies Education Hub demonstrates our determination to collaborate with researchers and clinicians to develop high-quality, customised health and medical technology solutions,” said Maurice Ben- Mayor, President of Stryker South Pacific.
The Hub will include Stryker’s mobile CT scanner, guidance system and robotics - which work together intra-operatively with a focus on enhancing procedural efficiency and accuracy.
We are delighted to be partnering with Stryker to provide students and members of the health community access to advanced machinery and training.

Clinicians and researchers from across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific region will now have the opportunity to gain experience with these innovative technologies, and to test and improve surgical concepts.
“The Hub is a local investment with a global focus, and we look forward to collaborating with clinicians and researchers from across Australia and the APAC (Asia Pacific) region,” Mr Ben-Mayor explained.
UTS Vice-Chancellor and President Andrew Parfitt said the partnership with Stryker and the UTS Surgical and Anatomical Science Facility would enhance modern clinical medical practice.
“UTS is committed to being at the forefront of technology, and we are delighted to be partnering with Stryker to provide students and members of the health community access to advanced machinery and training in one of Australia’s foremost dedicated human anatomical laboratories, located here at UTS," Professor Parfitt said.
