‘I wanted a career which combined my STEM background and my passion for writing, and the Master of Intellectual Property was the perfect match.’
Coming from an academic background in Engineering and Science, Samuel Elnajar is the ideal post-grad student for the Master of Intellectual Property.
It is not necessary to have studied law to undertake the higher degree but practising as a patent attorney does require a science/technology qualification.
For Samuel, it’s the perfect fit.
‘UTS Law is the only law school in NSW which offers a Master of Intellectual Property that is suitable for academic accreditation towards registration as a patent attorney. Therefore, without UTS Law, I would not be able to pursue my dream career.’
He says another drawcard is the online delivery of the course which makes it practical to balance the other important aspects of life such as full-time work as a trainee patent attorney.
‘Not only does it allow us to kick-start our careers while we study, but the use of the Canvas system to deliver content presents information in an aesthetic, searchable and modular format, which encourages us to engage with the content.’
Samuel says an added advantage of the online delivery is that students can fast-track their study and achieve their goals in a shorter time-frame – all with course teachers who are supportive, attentive and responsive.
‘UTS Law goes above and beyond the registration requirements and ensures that we are prepared for day-to-day practice, rather than purely focusing on the academic aspects of intellectual property.’
