Picture of Alexandra Hipolito

As a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) student, I had the opportunity to take on two industry placements with a sponsor company. For my first industry placement I spent 6 months with IBM. I worked in the Office of the CIO division, working with various technology and infrastructure for IBM.  I also spent 6 months with CBA as part of my second industry placement. I worked with collaboration tools and designing technology to improve productivity for the employees within the Bank. With both placements I not only had an up-close look at each company but also learnt how to communicate professionally with my colleagues and developed my problem-solving skills. These were two key skills which I definitely needed when I transitioned over from university to my current role.

I have a strong entrepreneurial passion. I started my first business when I was only 13 and continued to build it up throughout high school. As you can imagine, choosing a university degree was really difficult. I had so many varied passions including technology, business and design. I found the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Co-operative Scholarship course online, which seemed perfect. I wrote an application, went to an interview and was accepted.

The BIT program definitely set me up for success. I worked as a creative consultant at Deloitte Digital for a little while after uni. I've since founded my own business that is doing incredibly well in the online education space. This is where I focus most of my time these days. I've also founded another creative agency business.
