Research success underpins UTS global ranking
UTS continues to hold its place within the top 150 universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2023, placing 137th globally and ninth in Australia.
The biggest improvement was seen in citations per faculty, increasing by 14 places to 63. The indicator reflects the impact and quality of research produced by a university, measuring the average number of citations obtained per faculty member.
This cements UTS’s national and international reputation as a leading research university and foregrounds the commitment of academic and professional staff and the excellent research they produce.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Kate McGrath, says the results highlight the focus across UTS to continue to deliver strong research outcomes aligned to UTS 2027 strategic initiatives.
“Research is fundamental to our purpose, and our academic community should be commended for the delivery of excellent research with strong economic, environmental, cultural and social impact,” she says.
“These rankings results are just one indicator of how much research has come to the fore at UTS in recent years, as we’re delivering increasing impact on the global stage.”
Research achievements have been accelerated by use of agile and transdisciplinary approaches, and industry and community connections. This positive culture and approach has increasingly seen UTS sought out as a research partner across different industries and sectors.
Since 2014, UTS has moved up 135 places in the world rankings.
