Pacific Resilience Insight Briefs

Super Typhoon

The Australia Pacific Climate Partnership (the Climate Partnership) supports the integration of climate and disaster resilience across Australia’s aid program in the Pacific. Between 2022-2024, UTS-ISF was the Climate Partnership’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) partner.

In our role as MERL partner, UTS-ISF supported  the Climate Partnership to distil an evidence base on the integration of climate and disaster resilience into the Australian aid program across 10 key areas through the delivery of ‘Pacific Insight Briefs’.

The first tranche of Pacific Insight Briefs focused on the topics of community resilience; climate and disaster integration; gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI); governance; and infrastructure programming. The findings presented in these five Pacific Insight Briefs contribute to increasing knowledge of integration practices and inform policy and program design approaches of DFAT and other Pacific development stakeholders.

In 2024, the second phase of the project commenced, with UTS-ISF refining five additional Pacific Insight Briefs drafted by the Climate Partnership. These briefs focused on education and skills, energy, health, food and water security, and traditional and local knowledge. UTS-ISF designed and conducted focus group discussions with sector experts to ensure all important information was included and suggested necessary changes to enhance the briefs.
