Australia-China Energy Transition Forum 2024
Australia-China Energy Transition Forum: Electrifying Tomorrow - Advancing Cooperation in the Industrial Chain of Electric Vehicles
.
The need to address climate change and engage in sustainable development is becoming more urgent and represents major challenges on a global scale. Given Australia and the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) pivotal roles in addressing these issues, the Australia-China Energy Transition Forum (ACETF) was established as an annual platform dedicated to facilitating discourse and collaboration in this critical domain.
The inaugural ACETF, Electrifying Tomorrow: Advancing Cooperation in the Industrial Chain of Electric Vehicles, was co-hosted by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) and organised by the Australia-China Relations Institute (UTS:ACRI) and the Faculty of Engineering and IT at UTS.
The 2024 Forum addressed the multifaceted aspects of electric mobility, including critical minerals supply chains. It aimed to uncover opportunities, navigate challenges and highlight the collaborative efforts essential for the successful adoption and integration of electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia and the PRC.
Day 1 of the ACETF was livestreamed, comprising five sessions featuring 15-minute presentations by speakers followed by panel discussions and audience Q&A. The presentations can be revisited in the video above. Day 2 of the ACETF was a closed-door dialogue, involving a series of roundtable discussions between invited participants. The Chatham House Rule applied to all sessions on Day 2. The program is available below.
The ACETF is a collaborative endeavour involving several initiators, led by UTS, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and ISETS. Other initiators are the Australia-China Business Council (ACBC), the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce (AustCham), the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA), Victoria University, Renmin University of China and Hubei University of Economics
The ACETF 2024 received sponsorship from China Construction Bank and was supported by the UTS Business School.
