Joyce Nip
Dr Joyce Nip is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media and Communications and Department of Chinese Studies at the University of Sydney.
Before coming to Sydney, she had more than 20 years of experience in journalism teaching, research and practice as an Assistant Professor and journalist (in television, radio, newspapers and magazine) mainly in Hong Kong. From 2013 to 2014, Dr Nip was Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong, collaborating on research on China’s social media. From 2004 to 2005, she was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Maryland, College Park, US, researching public journalism.
Dr Nip has been a judge for a number of journalism awards for over 20 years, including the Awards for Editorial Excellence organized by the Society of Publishers in Asia, the Human Rights Press Awards, the Consumer Rights Reporting Awards in Hong Kong, and the Web Citizen Awards of Hong Kong.
