About my work
I wanted to change the way we learn and practice in the aesthetic industry so people accessing, and those providing, these treatments achieve better, safer and more natural outcomes.
Attitudes to aesthetic treatments have normalised over the past 15 years and increased interest in trying aesthetic treatments has created opportunities for new injectors and clinics. The products that these clinicians use require high levels of skill and training to get to that level. But many women working in this industry are time poor, often sacrificing paid work and time away from their children to access training. Also, training can be very costly making it difficult to leave the workplace to upskill or attend a conference.
I wanted to provide these women with the option to train without leaving their workplaces and access to services that shorten the learning time. As an established Cosmetic Nurse Consultant I kept thinking about challenges and pain points, what could be done better, and decided to develop an accessible, real-time tool aimed at improving training within the aesthetic industry.
The result is Medtech Aesthetics, an innovative training tool and service for health care practitioners and women in the aesthetic industry.

Bio: Susan Castagna is a biomedical engineer with a background in educating medicos in the use of aesthetic products, and as an established cosmetic nurse consultant she connects with many people who provide specialised cosmetic services. The obsession to support women and create something innovative that will change lives has been a part of Susan for over 15 years. She created Medtech Aesthetics because she wanted to bring knowledge together to assist health care professionals skill up in treating clients with cosmetic products. The result is an innovative online service that combines education and delivers information in real time.
