The Student/Council Liaison Group is a forum for UTS students, members of Council and UTS senior management to discuss matters of UTS policy and governance relevant to the student body.

Composition and membership
The Student/Council Liaison Group consists of the following positions:
- two members of Council
- one external member to be the Chair
- one member to be the Deputy Chair
- two student members of Council
- Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) or nominee
- Director, Student Services
- an associate dean (either teaching and learning or research, or equivalent) nominated by the associate deans
- President, Students’ Association or nominee
- Overseas Students Officer of the Students’ Association
- President, ActivateUTS or nominee
- student representative of ActivateUTS clubs
- a UTS student appointed by and from the UTS Housing Student Resident Advisory Committee
- elected Indigenous student member of Academic Board
- elected student members of Academic Board, one from each faculty
- elected postgraduate research student member of Academic Board
- co-opted members*.
* The group has the authority to co-opt members as appropriate, including additional members to represent international students, postgraduate coursework students and postgraduate research students, and to invite other participants for particular matters.

Charter
The UTS Student/Council Liaison Group Charter (PDF) outlines the group's roles, responsibilities, composition and the manner in which it discharges its responsibilities for UTS.
Responsibilities
The group will:
- initiate student forums, with the advice of the group, on particular topics where the wider, direct input of the student body may be of particular value
- receive referrals from Council, Council sub-committees, the senior executive and representative student bodies on matters relevant to the student body and provide advice
- have oversight of the UTS Student Partnership Agreement.
Performance
The group will review its performance annually against the charter.
Quorum
A quorum for the purposes of transacting business at a meeting shall consist of:
- the Chair or Deputy Chair (at least one)
- UTS staff member (at least one), and
- three students (including student members of Council, elected members of Academic Board and ex officio students).
