ECONOMICS Discipline group
Adeline is interested in understanding how individuals make decisions under uncertainty, particularly in the context of human capital accumulation. Her research has focused on methodological issues in the elicitation probabilistic expectations in developed and developing countries, on understanding how probabilistic expectations improve inference on individuals’ behaviour, and on how subjective expectations and attitudes are formed and revised with new information.

Research Theme Leader: Consumers’ Life Choices
Adrian uses experimental and survey research methods to understand, explain, and predict the cognitive processes underlying judgment and decision-making, and the application of this knowledge to policy, managerial, and consumption contexts. In one recent project, Adrian has attempted to understand how people can make better big life decisions that produce wellbeing over the long term.

Research Theme Leader: Legal Dispute Resolution
Benjamin is an applied microeconomic theorist whose research is interested in how peoples’ incentives and psychology shape the performance of institutions. Currently, he explores the implications of behavioural biases on the design of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms (like mediation or arbitration), aiming to foster pre-trial settlement between potential litigants.

Associate Professor Christina Nikitopoulos
Research Theme Leader: Energy Affordability
Christina is a leading researcher in energy finance, renewable energy, sustainable finance, and commodity markets. Her research addresses issues such as the impact of renewable energy generation on electricity markets; the assessment of climate change transition risk, and carbon reduction strategies; and the modelling/gauging of macro-economic drivers of prices and volatilities in energy markets. She has been awarded two ARC grants.

Prabhu's research interests are broadly in the application of core accounting concepts such as budgeting and costing to innovative and far-reaching contexts not usually associated with accounting, such as healthcare, entrepreneurship, and high-innovation environments. He leads the Financial and Performance Transformation in Healthcare Group, a collaboration between NSW Health and the UTS Business School.
