Henry Cameron - Chief Investment Officer
Now in his final year of a Bachelor of Business (Finance & Business Law) Henry currently works with a wealth management firm here in Sydney. During his time at university, he has also gained experience as a private client consultant with the UTS Consulting Club and with Australian Students Asset Management as a Portfolio Analyst. More recently, Henry completed an internship with Sydney the based hedge fund, Regal Partners. He has a particular interest in both Long/Short asset management and transactional corporate advisory, specifically in both the energy and commodity sectors.
Sean Geraghty - Active Domestic Equity Team Leader & Deputy Chief Investment Officer
Sean is an enthusiastic student studying a Bachelor of Accounting (accounting & finance) at the University of Technology Sydney. He enjoys the practical side to education and finds much value in learning the hard and soft skills through real-world application of class knowledge. Sean has pursued his interests in accounting, problem solving and investment strategy by securing an internship and subsequent job at Perpetual Limited, whilst being actively involved in the UTS Consulting Club and UTS Case Team where he has represented the university domestically and internationally in challenging competitions. He hopes that his recent appointment to Deputy Chief Investment Officer at the UTS Anchor Investment Fund will provide an exciting opportunity to engage actively in portfolio construction and investment management.
Gabriella Robinson - Active Domestic Equity Team - Portfolio Manager
Gabriella is in her final year of a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Marketing) and is set to embark on a Bachelor of Honours (Finance) in 2024. Gabriella’s interest in financial markets and experience in client-facing roles in the hospitality and film industries, has driven her to pursue a career in Banking. Her time at the UTS Business school has been invaluable in furthering her knowledge and desire for experience in the industry. An integral part of this journey has been her position as Portfolio Manager in the Australian Domestic Equities team. Gabriella is looking forward to commencing her position as a Summer Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Investment Banking and Capital Markets team in November 2023.
Harrison Smallcombe - Active Domestic Equity Team - Portfolio Manager
Currently a penultimate year student pursuing a Bachelor of Business majoring in finance and accounting, Harrison has approached his university experience in a multifaceted methodology through extracurricular activities, industry experience and now in the UTS Anchor Fund.
Participating in the UTS Equity Research Challenge in 2022, Harrison co-led his team, Axe Capital, to win the 12-week competition against ten teams. Under mentorship from equity analysts from Insignia Financial and E&P Financial Group, Axe Capital developed a comprehensive report, valuation, and presentation on Austral Gold Limited.
Spearheading the shift in the Banking & Finance Society ambitions towards fostering a supportive environment to develop student’s technical skills in finance, Harrison has integrated the UTS Equity Research Competition into the society to allow students to deepen their experience and create a perpetual program. With ambitions to use the research and resources from the competition, a demonstrational student managed fund composed of domestic securities is currently being developed. Leading lectures and providing resources to participating students, Harrison aspires to create a platform for like-minded peers to expedite their learning potential.
Gaining experience in a boutique wealth management firm as a portfolio analyst, Harrison has deepened his knowledge to leading industry practices in sustaining long-term growth through the implementation of private and public market investments. Consolidating and analysing market data from client portfolio, Harrison generates the firm’s distributed reports and investment updates.
Sebastian Rayk - Active Domestic Equity Team - Portfolio Manager
Sebastian is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence (BCII) with an intention of working in Investment Banking. He is set to undertake the summer vacationer program at McGrathNicol in 2024 as an analyst in the restructuring division. Sebastian is also currently on the business subcommittee (BSOC) as a member in the education team and helps to deliver market reports, exam workshops and other events.
Wesley Henderson - Active Domestic Equity Team - Portfolio Manager
Wesley is a second-year student at UTS, majoring in Finance and sub-majoring in Information Technology within the Bachelor of Business program. He is also pursuing a Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation, showcasing his commitment to diverse skill sets.
Wesley has set an ambitious goal for himself: to reach the position of CFO or CEO by the age of 27. To achieve this, he is actively building a strong foundation of knowledge in both the finance and IT sectors. This helps him bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application, equipping him with a holistic understanding of his chosen fields.
Wesley’s role in the Active Domestic Equity team is a significant asset due to his profound passion for investment banking and equity markets. His comprehensive knowledge adds depth to his insights and contributions, making him an indispensable asset to the team.
Building upon his demonstrated leadership skillset as 2ic at Elevate Education and extensive academic background, Wesley aspires to leverage the invaluable insights acquired through the Anchor Fund to kickstart his career in Finance.
Dean Wajzer - Active Domestic Equity Team - Portfolio Manager
Dean is a penultimate year student in the Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) program, who has enjoyed his university experience through the incorporation of industry experience and extra-curricular activities. Dean has been actively engaged in accounting, problem solving and risk and compliance through his internship at Westpac, whilst being actively involved in the UTS Consulting Club and UTS Case Team where he has represented the university domestically and internationally in challenging case competitions.
Dean recently went to Thailand with the UTS Case Team, an opportunity which allowed him to grow his global network and gain significant professional development skills through solving complex critical thinking problems. In addition, his current role in the domestic equities team of the UTS Student Fund has further pioneered his interests in funds and wealth management. This is in line with his career ambitions, with interests in investing and finance leading to a focus on portfolio management and capital markets as future career pathways.
Joshua Muzik - Asset Allocation Team Leader
Josh is a diligent student undergoing his fourth year in a dual degree in Robotics (Mechatronics) and Finance. Josh's passion lies in collaborative engineering, aimed at creating solutions that have a positive societal impact. As part of this mission, he founded a 3D printing freelance business specialising in customising tennis racquets for athletes, including those with disabilities. This venture combines his love for engineering and sports while catering to a specialised market. In addition to his academic pursuits and entrepreneurial endeavors, Josh is an active member of the UTS tennis squad, where he continues to hone his tennis skills and contribute to the team's success. Currently, Josh is gearing up for his engineering capstone project, collaborating with UTS Rapido on enhancing a hand exoskeleton for stroke rehabilitation. This project promises to broaden his technical expertise while making a significant impact on the lives of those in need. Beyond engineering, Josh is honoured to be selected for participation in the UTS Student Managed Fund, an opportunity that facilitates connections with seasoned industry professionals and deepens his comprehension of the financial world. His strong passion for finance and the prospect of advancing his career in portfolio management fuels his drive for success. He eagerly looks forward to connecting with like-minded individuals who share his passion for innovation and social change, and to further contribute to the field of finance.
Zachary Elphick - Asset Allocation Team - Portfolio Manager
Zachary is final year Bachelor of Business (Finance) and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation student.
As a student of the UTS Business school Zachary has demonstrated a strong passion for the finance and investment industry and is a pivotal member of the Asset Allocation team.
Having previously worked for a leading M&A advisor, Zachary now aims to extend his work into funds management, the 2023 UTS CFA Scholarship accolade being the culmination of this endeavour.
Zachary is always open for discussion and has a tenacious appetite for tackling the toughest of challenges.
Youssef Faddoul - Risk & Compliance Team Leader
Youssef is a dedicated student in his final year undertaking a combined degree in Business (Majoring in Finance) and Civil Engineering. Youssef has spent his time over the past two years developing his problem solving and analytical skills working as a structural engineer, gaining hands-on experience in this field. As the Chief Risk Officer within the Anchor Fund, he has been able to apply his dynamic approaches to risk management and the other functions in the team, as a result of his multifaceted background. Through utilising a culmination of quantitative and qualitative analysis driven by a need to constantly challenge himself and learn, Youssef has been inspired by the role played by fund managers and hopes to pursue a path in this industry. Youssef is currently looking forward to commencing his position as part of the Corporate Analyst Development Program at JP Morgan in December 2023.
Lewis Cook - Risk & Compliance Team - Portfolio Manager
Lewis is pursuing a Bachelor of Economics, with a major in finance. His interest in behavioural economics has steered him towards a career in capital allocation. To gain practical experience, he undertook a role at a Wealth Management firm in Sydney, where he developed his client management capabilities and enhanced his technical and analytical expertise. This experience, combined with his tenure as a Risk and Compliance Portfolio Manager at Anchor Investment Fund, has enriched his passion for financial markets and capital allocation. Lewis aspires to utilise this passion to advance his career in high conviction investment management roles.
Alicia Wee - Marketing & Communication Team Leader
Alicia has only been in Sydney for over a year, and she is already representing UTS in the CFA Research Challenge and is a member of the UTS Business School Advisory Board, honing her passion for analyzing systems and problem-solving to impact society positively. She is in her penultimate year of Bachelor of Business, majoring in Finance and Bachelor in Creative Intelligence and Innovation. Alicia is also on track to complete the CFA Level 1 exam 2024. Founded her first business at 19, she has since taken on key roles in organizations and projects in the creative and finance industry. After graduating, Alicia plans to pursue a career as a financial analyst in private equity, especially venture capital funds, to be a part of the startup ecosystem.
Alexander Zervos - Marketing & Communication Deputy Team Leader
Alexander is a 3rd year Business and IT student with a history in media production and marketing. Majoring in Finance and Data Analytics, finding creative, practical solutions to real-world problems by combining qualitative and quantitative data with lateral thinking. He appreciates any opportunity to learn, especially when doing so allows him to expand his skillset into unfamiliar territory and gain greater insight into the workings of industries, companies, and stakeholders. As a casual academic and former swim instructor, he also likes to pass along his insights, and take advantage of the learning opportunities that working with others provides. As he nears the end of his penultimate year, he eagerly seeks out opportunities to apply his analytical and critical thinking skills in a career where he can make an impact.
Lara O’Shea - Legal & Compliance Team Leader
Lara is a fourth year law and business (finance major) student. She currently works part time as a paralegal in medical negligence however is seeking to transition into the commercial law sphere. Lara is particularly interested in combining her passion and knowledge in law and finance through working in private equity or in superannuation. Lara was previously a U:PASS tutor for Economics for Business and is currently the Intervarsity Competitions Director for the UTS Law Students Society.
Edsel Hosan - Legal & Compliance Deputy Team Leader
Edsel is a fourth year in the Bachelor of Business (majoring in Finance) and Bachelor of Law at UTS. He is actively involved in the university through various extracurricular activities, including the UTS Case Team, and leadership roles. Edsel serves as a member of the UTS Faculty of Law Board and is a Student Board Director at ActivateUTS. Edsel has previously worked as paralegal and other supporting roles at various law firms which specialised from family law to commercial law. Edsel’s diverse range of experiences enable him to have a more dynamic and flexible approach to problem solving and bring and broad and nuanced perspective to the AIF team. Edsel has a keen interest in finance, governance and law; and the intersection between those three fields. Edsel is on track to complete his Practical Legal Training (PLT) in 2024-2025 and is interested in opportunities in the regulatory and advisory environment which will enable him to merge his interests and passion to make a positive contribution to society. In his spare time he does bouldering and cooking.
