Flexible work
UTS is committed to supporting staff to manage their work and personal commitments and recognise the benefits of flexible working practices for both individuals and the university.
There are a wide range of policies and initiatives in place to support staff to manage their work/life balance including compressed working weeks, time-in-lieu and job sharing.
The UTS Faculty of Science values flexible work and understands the impact embracing it has on the lives of staff members. On top of the policies and initiatives in place across the board at UTS, our faculty also offers Core meeting hours – which encourage meetings, seminars, workshops and work-related social gatherings to be held between 10am and 4pm to accommodate the life circumstances of staff including things such as school drop off and pick up, care for elderly parents etc
UTS is also an Australian Breastfeeding Association accredited Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace. Staff, students and visitors are welcome to breastfeed on campus. If they prefer a private space for feeding their baby, expressing milk and/or nappy changing, dedicated rooms are available. For a list of locations search ‘parents’ on the UTS Map.
