Our facility
AFTER was established through the funding of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) grant along with the generous contributions of the lead and partner organisations. Our facility sits within the Centre for Forensic Science and the Surgical and Anatomical Science Facilities at UTS.
Maximum security fencing surrounds approximately 12 acres of natural Australian bushland. Additional security is maintained through high definition CCTV cameras and an onsite property manager. AFTER is located on the outskirts of Sydney in a remote bushland environment. The south-eastern region of Australia where AFTER is located is classified by the Köppen Climate Classification System as a moist, mid-latitude (Cfb) climate with warm to hot summers and mild winters. While this region does not mimic the climate experienced across all of Australia, findings from AFTER can be applied to national and international regions with comparable climate classifications.
Access to AFTER is restricted to authorised users only to maintain the dignity and respect of all of our donors. We do not provide tours of the facility to the general public. All users of the facility are bound by a confidentiality agreement to maintain the privacy of the work conducted there.
