Welcome from the Head of School
The School of Public Health was formally established in 2020. However, the disciplines of public health, health services management, Indigenous health, and diabetes education and management have been a prominent part of the UTS Faculty of Health since 2015.
As a School, we understand that the world’s health needs are rapidly changing and growing in complexity. We strive to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, our populations and communities by:
- preventing disease
- health promotion and protection
- reducing inequalities in health
- reshaping and redesigning health care to improve quality, safety and outcomes of care
- and educating public health professionals and health leaders of the future.
In today’s world this requires greater trans-disciplinary and inter-professional efforts to address the social determinants of health, more health-systems based solutions and much more disruptive thinking. To address these challenges, modern public health practice and health leadership must be agile and constantly changing.
The School of Public Health is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Australia’s population – particularly for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. To achieve this, our work must be multi-faceted and depend on inter-disciplinary health scientists, clinicians, practitioners, health managers, researchers, analysts and educators all working together and effectively collaborating with other partners to generate needed evidence and knowledge.
