Geriatric Oncology Concept Development Workshop
The PaCCSC and Cancer Symptom Trials are accepting submissions of new geriatric oncology clinical trial concepts for workshopping.

Further research is needed to improve outcomes for older people with cancer. We are looking for fresh clinical trial concepts that we can help develop into fully fledged study proposals that address the symptom management needs of older people with cancer.
Interdisciplinary experts in geriatric oncology as well as health economists, quality-of-life experts, and statisticians will be available to help you workshop your geriatric oncology clinical trial concept.
Professor William Dale, geriatric oncology expert from City of Hope Cancer Center in the US will be giving a presentation at the workshop and will also be available to help workshop your study ideas.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to workshop your study idea with Professor Dale and other invited experts.
Is this workshop for me?
The workshop is for researchers – early-career, mid-career, and experienced - from any health discipline who would like to discuss and seek advice on a new geriatric oncology clinical trial concept with a view to developing their idea into a clinical trial.
What's on the program?
The program includes a presentation by Professor Dale and a presentation of study concepts as well as workshopping of study concepts. There will also be time for networking and catching up with colleagues over lunch.
Why should I submit my study idea?
- This is the perfect opportunity to workshop your idea with peers and experts. Your idea does not have to be fully developed to benefit from workshopping. It can just be the spark of an idea!
- You will have access to experienced researchers, experts in quality-of-life measures, health economics, and biostatistics, as well as consumer advocates with lived experience and invaluable insights both as patients and carers.
How do I submit my new study concept for consideration?
Submit your new study concept for consideration on the PaCCSC/CST new study proposal form before 7 February 2025.
All submitted study concepts will be kept confidential. The intellectual property remains with the study proposers.
The outcome of your submission will be notified to you via email by Friday 21 February 2025.
What if I don't live in Sydney?
If your study concept is accepted, in-person attendance at the workshop in Sydney will be required. Travel assistance is available for participants travelling from regional New South Wales, interstate or Aotearoa New Zealand.
