FASS Faculty Industry Advisory Board

For the FASS Faculty Industry Advisory Board (IAB), we have sought members from fields such as banking, consulting, digital technology, engineering, government, property, construction, professional services and the non-profit and start-up sectors, to advise on multi-disciplinary needs across a variety of industries. 

This IAB differs from our School Advisory Boards within FASS, whose membership is composed of experts in the relevant Communication and International Studies and Education fields.

FASS IAB Chairperson

 Kathrina Lo – NSW Public Service Commissioner 

Kathrina Lo was appointed NSW Public Service Commissioner in April 2020, after previously working as a Deputy Secretary for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. As NSW Public Service Commissioner, Kathrina leads workforce strategy, reform and programs for the NSW public sector, which is the largest workforce in Australia with over 430,000 employees.

Kathrina has extensive public sector experience with both state and federal governments. She has held senior executive roles in the NSW Department of Justice, NSW Audit Office and NSW Information and Privacy Commission. Kathrina is on the Board of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government and is a member of Chief Executive Women.

Kathrina has qualifications in law and economics. She is passionate about working in the public interest, and is a champion for diversity and inclusion.

I want to be part of the FASS IAB because the NSW Government is the largest employer in Australia - holding the top spot on the Australian Financial Review’s Top 100  Graduate Employers list - and we seek to attract and retain top talent, including graduates who are innovative, collaborative, agile, customer-focused and have the ability to work on complex problems.

Anne Bennett – Salesforce

Anne Bennett is VP, Regional Engagement Lead, APAC for Salesforce. Prior to this she was Chief Digital Officer for AMP, and Executive General Manager for NAB Transformation and CX and Customer Journeys at National Australian Bank.

Anne has 18 years’ experience in financial services organisations in customer, digital and operational leadership, strategy and transformation roles across Banking and Wealth management.

I’m very excited to be a part of this IAB. I’m passionate about helping graduates to become workforce-ready, with both the technology skills, and also other future workforce skills that will enable them to influence and engage around topics in technology - the ability to influence and engage around topics like ethics for example.

Angela Coble OAM - Accenture

Angela Coble is the Managing Director Transformation, Technology & Executive Advisory. She has experience in healthcare, utilities, finance and agriculture, and over two decades of academic studies in leadership, organisational change and behaviour, balanced with practitioner-level technology qualifications as a Certified Information Security Manager. In 2020 Angela was #2 in Australia’s Top50 CIOs. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, most recently held the Chair position of the CIO Executive Council ANZ Advisory Board, and is passionate about using technology for community benefit.

Australian businesses and society need radical change to traditional roles in both work and home. My life’s purpose is to advance equality and equity in leadership, and being part of the UTS FASS Industry Advisory Board means I can leverage my experience to shape the journey of our future leaders. It’s important to me to give back by helping others to reach their full potential, and we must continually disrupt convention, create resilience and adapt. I'm excited to contribute to addressing and redefining the skills and education required to lead in my profession, now and in the future.

David Cox – Senior Executive and Consultant

David was Executive General Manager for Qantas Engineering with responsibility for over 6,000 staff providing engineering and maintenance services to the Qantas fleet.  He was the Faculty Manager for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney for ten years until February 2020.
David has held a number of directorships, is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Chair of the Sydney Branch, a member the Safety Institute of Australia,  a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has academic qualifications in both engineering and the humanities.

We want to hear the broadest possible view of society-wide trends and multi-disciplinary industry needs. We want people who will work with us to develop a curriculum to deliver the graduate attributes that we need in the future. And we want the FASS IAB to be a conduit into the whole university, not just FASS.

Sophia Futerman – Korn Ferry

Sophia  Futerman is a Principal within the Leadership and Professional Development Practice of Korn Ferry’s Advisory business. Sophia has been partnering with Boards, CEOs and their Executive Teams for over a decade to solve some of their most complex leadership challenges. She brings a particular expertise in CEO Succession and has supported over 35 organisations with CEO Succession.

Her experience includes supporting organisations across a wide range of industries with Board, CEO and Executive succession, assessment and development, with a particular expertise in partnering with Industrial businesses in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. Prior to her more than ten years in Executive Search, Sophia worked in international relations think tanks in London and completed a Master of Science in Management from King’s College, London.

I have always had a passion for education and the critical role that broader society and business has to play. I hope that I can apply my work supporting Executives and companies to develop the softer skills required in successful leadership today, to impact how we teach, engage and develop our graduates of tomorrow.

Sarah Neill – Global Entrepreneur and Consumer Marketing Leader

Sarah Neill is a serial entrepreneur and global consumer marketing professional. She is the Founder and CEO of fashion tech start-up and women’s fashion app Mys Tyler, with years of experience in building and scaling start-ups, predominantly in the US. Sarah also has almost a decade driving marketing, advertising and innovation for major consumer technology brands across in-house and agency settings in the USA, UK and Australia. Sarah has held senior leadership roles at mobile disruptors Boost Mobile and Mint Mobile, and led multi-million-dollar agency accounts for Telstra, Vodafone and Samsung.

As an entrepreneur I hope to be able to add insights from a less traditional environment. I've always been passionate about sharing the start-up story and showing people how to build a business; so it's great to be part of this collective, to provide a different point of view to best prepare students for the world beyond graduation - no matter which path they choose.

Peter Outridge - KPMG

Peter Outridge is a Partner in KPMG’s People & Change Consulting practice. He has deep experience working across the Banking, Insurance, Asset Management and Superannuation sectors to manage the people-related risks inherent in transformational change.

With KPMG since August 2005, Peter has worked across the Asia Pacific region where he established KPMG’s People & Change Centre of Excellence for Asia, and led the People & Change team for KPMG China. Prior to joining KPMG he worked for a boutique consultancy and another professional services organisation in Australia. He has extensive experience in both the design and implementation of organisational change programs, in a career spanning more than 25 years.

Peter is a member of KPMG’s Global People & Change Leadership team, and is co-Chair of Pride@KPMG.

We live in a time of unprecedented change and the skills we need and the nature of work is continually evolving. I experience this every day with my clients, and I am excited to be part of the FASS IAB to be part of the conversation to facilitate alignment between the emerging skills needs and the role of UTS in equipping and enabling Australian workforces to be adaptive, creative and competitive.

William Payne – Mirvac

William Payne is the Chief Digital Officer for Mirvac. William is responsible for the strategic information technology capability as well as the broader digital strategy for Mirvac Group.

Prior to joining Mirvac, William’s roles have included Chief Information Officer for Boral, a similar role for Veolia in the UK, and Executive General Manager for Strategy and Performance for Veolia Australia. He was CEO for a technology scale-up operating in ANZ and North America.

I’m keen to contribute to better prepare graduates for the world, which is more ever-changing and volatile than it ever has been. I want to help to ensure they have a combination of soft skills, but also real, practical understanding and experience needed for such a rapidly changing world, and the resilience to cope and adapt to it.

Gill Savage – Strategic Adviser and Non Executive Director

Gill is a Senior Fellow with the Northern Australia Strategic Policy Centre at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Vice President - Global with the Australian Risk Policy Institute and Chair of the Risk, Compliance and Audit Committee for The Navy's Anchorage. Her public sector experience spans national security, defence, environment, human services, transport and regional development. 

Gill also has extensive experience focusing on strategy, governance and risk in the provision of professional services, including through her company LeadAbility Group Pty Ltd. She led the Australian Government’s biometrics for border control program which included design and implementation of SmartGate in Australia and New Zealand, and redesign of air passenger analysis. Gill also led the redesign of government services across aviation, regional development and employment services.

She is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, an Executive Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand School of Government and holds an MBA in International Business.

Lifelong learning interests me, and its importance for the sectors I’ve been working in. There is always a search for innovators and innovations, but there are also barriers from those working at senior levels and their willingness to invest in those innovations. I’m interested in preparing them to think more broadly and creatively.
