Three ways to make the most of your uni experience
Honestly, University is daunting. But there are so many opportunities to enrich your uni life. At UTS, the sky is the limit! It is hard to make the most of your uni experience when you are spending most of the time focusing on studying.
Clubs and societies
Joining clubs and societies is the best way to make new friends. If none of the societies appeal to you (which I doubt!), I highly recommend joining one that relates to your degree or faculty. By doing this, you can interact with people who are studying similar courses, and they often offer resources like selling textbooks to help make life easier!
I can't stress enough how great it is to have friends ahead of you in your degree. They can give you insider information about different subjects you will have to take and help you gather study resources.
Global opportunities
Aside from your social life, grades are crucial because they open up doors for other opportunities. For example, when you apply for global exchange, the students with better marks get first to pick at top universities. So if exchange is something you're interested in, I’d definitely recommend it.
Real world experience
Internships can also a big part of university degrees. This is because internships work hand in hand with your degree: to teach you more and make you more competitive when looking for future employment. Grades are also important because they are considered when you apply for internships. However, they are not the only thing considered, so having other experience on your resume is beneficial. Make the most of the careers centre at UTS to refine your resume, and improve your interview skills.
As I mentioned earlier, the sky is the limit here at UTS. As long as you work hard and focus on making the most of it, you can customise your university experience and gain so much.
