Stay connected with UTS Law
We partner with major law firms and commercial companies, to provide our students with the opportunities to develop their professional skills through networking events and career seminars.
Industry sponsors
UTS Law is supported by an array of industry sponsors who make possible our series of scholarships and awards, as well as provide internship opportunities for our students. By recognising and encouraging outstanding academic achievement, these opportunities help build the personal and professional confidence of our students and add prestige to their curriculum vitae.
Among UTS Law’s sponsors are top-tier law firms Allens, Ashurst and King & Wood Mallesons, international business publisher Thomson Reuters, the City of Sydney and Inner West Law Societies, Sir Owen Dixon Chambers, the Law Society of New South Wales and the NSW Bar Association. We hold an Awards Ceremony annually to award and pay tribute to UTS:Law students, and acknowledge the generous support of our sponsors and donors.
Summer Clerkships
Summer clerkships are paid employment experiences in major commercial law firms over the summer break for Australian law students generally in their penultimate year of study. It is the primary method used by participating law firms to identify and secure talented students for graduate positions. Due to strong industry connections, UTS students are ideally positioned to pursue summer clerkships with many of Sydney’s prominent firms and government departments.

Admission to the Supreme Court of NSW to practice as a lawyer is based upon the successful completion of a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and an accredited course of Practical Legal Training (PLT). The unique feature of UTS is the convenience of completing the optional PLT at the same institution as your Juris Doctor or undergraduate law degree, at the same university-standard level of teaching.
All UTS courses are accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board (LPAB). As it is a requisite for the practice of law in NSW, the inclusion of the PLT is an integral feature of UTS’ focus on practice-based learning.
