Make a concerted effort to study to understand concepts rather than study to pass subjects.
I am a Sydney based physiotherapist who is currently working in a combined physio and rehabilitation coach role at Athletes Authority in Artarmon. Previously I have worked for organisations such as the Cronulla Sharks and South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league clubs in their pathways department.
I am passionate about delivering high quality sports rehabilitation to athletes, overall I believe rehabilitation in sport, particularly in the private sector is done very poorly and I am driven to change this mantra. I hope to run a rehabilitation department at a professional sporting organisation in the future.
The challenge of having my critical thinking skills pushed by leaders in the industry placed within various roles, inspired me to study this degree. From physiotherapists to strength and conditioning and sports science research I have been developing very practical knowledge that can be applied to my work environment immediately.

I chose to study at UTS because the course convenors and tutors are some of the most highly regarded in the industry and that combined with a smaller cohort allows great levels of communication at regular intervals with my teachers. This creates an engaging and collaborative environment.
Being able to gain valuable insight from leaders in the industry and pick up clinical pearls that I can apply immediately to my practice has been the most rewarding aspect of the course.
My advice would be before considering taking on this element of study, get your hands dirty within the industry and familiarise yourself with sports performance environments. Then when you digest the content you will have a deeper understanding of the importance of the learning materials and will be able to more appropriately apply it. Additionally during your undergrad studies make a concerted effort to study to understand concepts rather than study to pass subjects.
