Career Overview:
Maruf completed his MSS and BSS in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He is now a Research Fellow (currently on study leave) of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) where he joined as a Research Associate in November, 2015. Prior to joining BIDS he served as a Lecturer (Adjunct) in Eastern University Bangladesh. He began his career as a Staff Researcher in BRAC Research and Evaluation Division (RED) and worked on the internationally acclaimed project titled “Challenging the Frontier of Poverty Reduction: Targeting the Ultra-Poor” (CFPR-TUP). He has worked in a number of national and international research projects partnering with American Cancer Society (ACS), Cancer Research UK (UKCR), The Asian Development Bank (ADB), University of Bath and The Department For International Development (DFID). He has extensive experience in research activities including grant writing, field level data collection, high volume of data management and analysis and writing project reports. He has published articles in internationally accredited journals including Tobacco Control and PLOS ONE.
