Overview
The Canon Medical Systems- UTS Engineering Scholarship aims to support applicants who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering and have an interest in Canon’s diagnostic imaging equipment such as ultrasound, CT, X-Ray R&F, X Ray- Angiography/Cardiology and MRI.
The Scholarship is open to applicants enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering Diploma in Engineering Practice (BEngDipEngPrac), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (BEng(Hon)DipProfEngPrac) course, including Engineering combined degrees.
Who is eligible?
In order to be eligible applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen; and
- Enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering Diploma in Engineering Practice (BEngDipEngPrac), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (BEng(Hon)DipProfEngPrac) course, or combined Engineering courses with Diploma in Engineering Practice/Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice; and
- Be Majoring in Biomedical, Electrical, Electrical and Electronic or Mechatronics; and
- Have achieved a minimum Credit Average (WAM 65 +); and
- Be enrolled or have successfully completed Engineering Practice Preparation 1 or Engineering Practice Preparation 2; and
- Have not completed Engineering Professional Experience 1 or Engineering Professional Experience 2; and
- Have their own vehicle or access to a vehicle which can provide safe transport for the scholar to sites up to 4 hours from the Canon HQ in Sydney.
- All candidates must apply for this Scholarship using the online UTS Scholarship application form; and
- Be available to attend an interview in person (this may be face-to-face or online)
- Be available to commence the internship placement in 2024.
Where possible, preference will be given to senior students.
Selection process
As demonstrated in the application and interview:
- Academic merit (WAM)
- Motivation to succeed in the BEng(Hon)DipProfEngPrac or BE DipEngPrac course
- Demonstrated interest in Canon’s Diagnostic Equipment and initiative in extra-curricular and non-academic activities
- Demonstrated in interest and aptitude for mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering
- Be interested in “Hands on Work”
- Canon’s recommendation of recipient.

Other information
Work placement may either be 6 months full-time or part-time equivalent over a period of 12 months upon discussion and agreement between the student and the sponsor.
