Tasmin is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Health Science at UTS. Her placement position has encouraged her to further pursue global health policy and promotion. Tasmin’s collaboration with WHO CC staff on the Nursing and CHW Curriculum Improvement project in Papua New Guinea was a focal point of her placement.
Notably, Tasmin liaised with staff to research and write up journal articles and newsletters on the Centre's work in the Western Pacific Region. Particularly, Tasmin aided in the writing of articles for Regional Updates and preparing submissions for international health newsletters.
Tasmin was heavily involved in the preparation for the Strengthening Health Workforce Education Workshop in Papua New Guinea which was facilitated by the Centre in May. Tasmin undertook the translation of online healthcare modules into offline physical documents for Nursing and CHW educators, as well as creating presentations for the workshop itself. She thoroughly enjoyed shadowing and observing the Centre staff as it helped her gain an understanding of the roles undertaken in the global health field. Tasmin had the opportunity to sit in on the workshop online which ignited her passion for global health development.
Throughout her time at WHO CC UTS, Tasmin further developed her research skills, project work, writing abilities and was able to utilise her public health knowledge that she had gained throughout her degree. She was able to achieve her learning objectives and is confident these skills will support her throughout her career.
Tasmin thoroughly enjoyed her time with the Centre and believe the experience has given her fundamental industry skills. She is excited to pursue a career in global health and health promotion and hopes to work with international health organisations in the future.
