WHO CC Intern: Denzel Wong
Denzel is a third-year student in Bachelors of Health Science aiming to undertake and complete Masters of Orthoptics as a postgraduate. His time at the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre at UTS aided him in fostering his understanding and knowledge of contemporary health programs in the Asia-Pacific region, and current health issues occurring around the world.
Denzel has assisted with producing stories for the regional update as well as researching and acquiring information for other reports, documents and presentations. His variety of tasks allowed him to develop a diverse understanding and comprehension of health in different countries. Denzel also broadened his knowledge on current situations and countries’ tactics used to contain the effects of the current COVID-19 pandemic, as many of the reports he had written were COVID-19 related and required critical analysis.
One of the major projects that Denzel partook in was the Basic Psychosocial Skills: Training for COVID-19 Responders, which is a course which aims to promote the mental health of first responders during this COVID-19 pandemic, where he was responsible for creating a flyer as well as refining instructions on how to access the training course.
Reflecting on his time at WHO CC UTS, Denzel’s newly gained experiences and knowledge in the health industry will be extremely beneficial in aiding him in achieving his future study and career goals.
