Nursing Now's new Challenge: Nursing and Midwifery in Crisis
Last week, Nursing Now’s Global Solutions Initiative established a new Nursing Now Challenge in collaboration with Sigma Theta Tau. The content of this challenge focuses on Nursing and Midwifery in Crisis. This series of webinars will examine the roles of nurses and midwives as they work in crisis situations around the world. Discussion is centred around generating support mechanisms with regards to mental health and general wellbeing. Participants will consider the following objectives in their programme:
- The development of strategies for nurses, midwives, and other health workers to prevent workplace incivility, lateral violence and or bullying in the professional community
- The perspectives of nurses, midwives, and other health workers on workplace bullying
- Reframing or reconstructing a system or process to provide a supportive atmosphere for nurses, midwives, and other health workers in the workplace
- The communication skills used by nurses, midwives, and other health workers to prevent incivility and uncivil behaviour

Despite the webinar have being completed, Nursing Now Challenges typically run for up to 2 months. Throughout the two-month period, participants are provided with the relevant resources in articles and webinars to develop their understanding of the thematic area. At the conclusion of the 2-month period, participants will submit a concept note outlining their findings and solutions to be judged by a panel of global experts.
